  •

    SloshMold,

What exactly is not showing up, are you not seeing Appraiser, the tooltip information, or something else?

Heh, it's me again who asked about the rating button... :D Well yeah ofc I've seen these stars under the big W.. But I can't click them. Even in Internet Explorer =\ Sorry for bothering you with such bullshit, but you're answering every question here so I figured out I could get some help :)

    Sobakus,

Looks like the site is having issues- to track the status, see http://www.curseforge.com/projects/curse/tickets/20-unable-to-rate-via-the-addon-page-widget/ .

Hope that is fixed soon, just think of all the "5 Star Ratings" we are missing!

When in the Auction SearchUI it will not let me search any items when I click search. No items show up in the search results below the search bar. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong to not be able to search for items. Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • July 4, 2008, 04:55PM (1 day, 6 hours ago)

    Pariah88,

Are you searching via the "tab" along the bottom of the main AH frame or via the "magnifying glass" icon on the SlideBar, installed by default just below the minimap?

The two searches use different data sets:
    - The Search tab, shown in the Screen Shot above, uses the data from scans obtained when you press the big "Scan" button when viewing the Browse Frame of the AH.
    - The SearchUI uses the data obtained from scans obtained using the "play button" type along the top left of the browse frame.

In both cases, you should perform a full AH scan first, to ensure that the data is up to date.

This may seem redundant- it is. One is using the Auction Advanced data, the "play" type button scans, and the other is using AuctioneerClassic data, obtained by clicking the big "Scan" button along the bottom of the Browse Frame.

Note: As the feature set is becoming more refined, we **highly** recommend that everyone get used to using the AuctioneerAdvanced features. Anyone is more than welcome to use AuctioneerClassic, of course, but it seems with each patch more workarounds are needed or "live with it" type issues pop up. Our full efforts are focused on AuctioneerAdvanced, we only have enough help to address the most serious AuctioneerClassic issues, but eventually, that support will cease.

Any way, hope that gets you on you way to productive Auctioneering- if you still have issues, please post at our main forums, via http://Forums.Norganna.Org/4/ .

    Best of luck,

    Nikk

Oh noes, what has happened to our favorite website? I can't get to either Auctioneer or Gatherer today! Has Norgana forsaken the masses or is it just a cosmic hiccup? I'm really hoping that it is all just a cosmic hiccup and than they lost a server and everything will eventually be okay.

Indeed... there was an accout error, as they call it, by the ISP.

Ok, so I need to update Auctioneer. All my past scans must be stored somewhere in the files I'm supposed to delete first. Is there any way to retain my scan/sales history when upgrading?

  • June 23, 2008, 11:00PM (1 week, 5 days ago)

    Cilencia,

Yes, if you follow the updating instructions here and at the main site, http://Wiki.Norganna.Org/Installing/ , you will retain your old data.

The old data is kept in the ..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF\Account\<YourAccountName>\SavedVariables\ folder. When updating, you only delete, then download and replace files in the ..\WorldofWarcraft\Interface\AddOns\ folder.

We, like most AddOn authors, *highly* recommend backing up your "WTF" folder often- we hear horror stories ever day from folks who delete the whole thing, part of the directory, or have their data become corrupted from a whole slew of possible reasons. Need we say more? =)

    Happy Auctioneering,

I downloaded auctioneer and it worked great for a few days. After that the scans were painfully slow (it would scan the first 5 to 15 at normal speed, 90 or so auctions/ second, and then freeze for about a minute, and the speed would drop down to 20/s, and it would keep on freezing periodically) Is there any way to remedy this, ie increasing the cache size or whatever?

  • June 23, 2008, 11:46PM (1 week, 4 days ago)

    Kin2dMonkeys,

We work continually to find ways to streamline the scanning process, but unfortunately, sometimes our benevolent Blizzard does some things that we recommend against- go figure. Then again, they have their motivation and we have ours.

Anyway, patch 2.4.2 introduced some major throttling in an attempt to actually speed up scanning overall for all users. The unintended consequence is likely what you are dealing with, painfully slow scan times that are unpredictable, to say the very least.

Other than playing smartly, there is not a whole lot any end user can do... while scanning, and general playing, if you want the best response, we highly recommend:
    - Save the web surfing or checking email for later, or use a second machine.
    - Ensure that virus scans are not actively running, but are scheduled to run when you are not using your machine.
    - That backups are not actively running and are, again, scheduled to run when you are not using your machine.
    - That you defragment the drive housing the game client and data relatively often.
-- By doing so, you keep all of the files the game "needs" in as few pieces as possible. Just using a machine will lead to fragmentation, so defragmenting can often increase overall performance- some times a great deal.
-- Remembering to close all programs and use the "shutdown" command rather than just jabbing the power switch allows the system time to properly close files rather than leaving temp files and the like scattered across your drive.
    - All non-essential processes are halted
-- To see what processes are running- and to effectively "deal" with those that are, try "Process Explorer" from http://SysInternals.Com/ .
-- Sysinternals is renowned for their amazing MS Windows utilities. They received so much attention that MS purchased the company and keeps most of the people as a separate group so that they continue to produce awesome products. The best part is, now the utilities are free.
--Macs have many of the same utilities, like Windows, some are included- most of the better ones are from third parties, though. ;-)
    - The main thing is to "kill" any processes that are not needed. For instance, Adobe Reader just loves to run in the background and hog resources and many more.
--Do not kill anything you are not sure of, you could cause unresponsiveness or the need for a reboot if you get overzealous.

As usual, we have some upcoming changes, that should be in the next version if testing continues to go well, that will at least get the scan times back to what they were, if not a bit faster than pre-2.4.2.

Hope this makes sense and gets you on your way to faster, less annoying scans!

Keep an eye here and our main site, http://AuctioneerAddOn.Com/ , for more on the upcoming version and all that fun stuff.

    =)

so I downloaded auctioner, atlas, titan panel, and quest helper. Im using a iBook G4 and I put all of them in the addon folder but the only one that worked was quest helper. the rest didnt show up in the addon tab, any help?

  • June 21, 2008, 03:49PM (2 weeks ago)

    Scozzi,

Read the install guide, and follow the directions exactly as given there.

If you find the Screen Shot along the left border, the Install Guide tab is just to the right of that picture. Description | Changes | Install Guide. You can find our primary installation guide over at the main site, via http://wiki.norganna.org/installing .

In general, would recommend only downloading, unzipping, and installing a single addon at a time to ensure that you are not running into problems when trying to install multiple addons at once.

For what it's worth, numerous people run the addons you list without error, so your issue is likely incurred during the installation.

    Thank you,

    Nikk

    HI

Just installed Auctioneer a couple of days ago and I'm most admit that I'm very impress. But I do have one question.

I'm using two of my caracters for the AH. Both are on the aliance side on the same server. Do I need to scann the AH with each caracter or just one is enough ?

    Thanks

  • June 21, 2008, 03:41PM (2 weeks ago)

    Remote,

The scans are shared between users of the same server and faction, so if you have a dwarf and human on Cenarion Circle, then you only have to scan on one or the other. If you have a tauren on Cenarion Circle, then you will have to scan for them, too.

    =)

    Jase17,

No Addon will function if you try to install it while the main WoW client is running.

To install, follow the instructions at our primary site, http://wiki.norganna.org/installing/

The Addon works on Windows, Mac OSX, and emulated Windows on any of the Linux distributions. The only thing that is different is the install path, but once you find the WorldofWarcraft directory, they are identical.

    Best of luck,

    Nikk
